چکیده

The most general flowshop scheduling problem is also addressed in the literature as nonpermutation flowshop (NPFS). Current processors are able to cope with the (n!) m combinatorial complexity of non-permutation flowshop scheduling by metaheuristics. After briefly discussing the requirements for a manufacturing layout to be designed and modeled as non-permutation flowshop, a disjunctive graph (digraph) approach is used to build native solutions. The implementation of an Ant Colony Optimization (ACO) algorithm has been described in detail; it has been shown how the biologically inspired mechanisms produce eligible schedules, as opposed to most metaheuristics approaches, which improve permutation solutions. ACO algorithms are an example of native nonpermutation (NNP) solutions of the flowshop scheduling problem, opening a new perspective on building purely native approaches. The proposed NNP-ACO has been assessed over existing native approaches improving most makespan upper bounds of the benchmark problems from Demirkol et al. (1998).

A combinatorial particle swarm optimisation for solving permutation flowshop problems

The m-machine permutation flowshop problem PFSP with the objectives of minimizing the makespan and the total flowtime is a common scheduling problem, which is known to be NP-complete in the strong sense, when m P 3. This work proposes a new algorithm for solving the permutation FSP, namely combinatorial Particle Swarm Optimization. Furthermore, we incorporate in this heuristic an improvement pr...

MILP models and valid inequalities for the two-machine permutation flowshop scheduling problem with minimal time lags

In this paper, we consider the problem of scheduling on two-machine permutation flowshop with minimal time lags between consecutive operations of each job. The aim is to find a feasible schedule that minimizes the total tardiness. This problem is known to be NP-hard in the strong sense. We propose two mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) models and two types of valid inequalities which aim t...

A PSO-Based Hybrid Metaheuristic for Permutation Flowshop Scheduling Problems

This paper investigates the permutation flowshop scheduling problem (PFSP) with the objectives of minimizing the makespan and the total flowtime and proposes a hybrid metaheuristic based on the particle swarm optimization (PSO). To enhance the exploration ability of the hybrid metaheuristic, a simulated annealing hybrid with a stochastic variable neighborhood search is incorporated. To improve ...

On the Neutrality of Flowshop Scheduling Fitness Landscapes

Solving efficiently complex problems using metaheuristics, and in particular local search algorithms, requires incorporating knowledge about the problem to solve. In this paper, the permutation flowshop problem is studied. It is well known that in such problems, several solutions may have the same fitness value. As this neutrality property is an important issue, it should be taken into account ...

Tabu search for non-permutation flowshop scheduling problem with minimizing total tardiness

This paper deals with the non-permutation flowshop problem which means that the job sequences are allowed to be different on machines. The objective function is minimizing the total tardiness. Firstly, three mixed-integer linear programming (MILP) models for non-permutation flowshop problems are described, and then are analyzed and assessed their relative effectiveness. Secondly, two Tabu searc...
